What do we call French fries? Potatoes that have been cut into strips, soaked in cold water, blotted dry, then deep-fried. But did you know that the French call them *pomme frites* and deny the French origine of this McDonald's pride? The Belgians, on the other hand, consider pomme frites a national treasure.
