Researchers from University of Nottingham, Nottingham, UK, compared the Southern French (Mediterranean) diet with the current British diet.

Overall the Southern French diet was healthier than British diet. UK dieters ate less fruit and vegetables, fish and poultry, and more sweets and chocolates, cakes, pastries, biscuits, and puddings. Interestingly, women had healthier diets in both countries.
