December 18, 2009, Newsletter Issue #15: French toast

Tip of the Week

French Toast is just a bread slice dipped in egg and milk and fried; topped with sugar or fruit or syrup. Ironically, French toast is popular as a breakfast main course in North America. It is also popular in China. However, it cant compete with croissants for French breakfast. Here's one of the recipes, anyway.

French Toast Recipe

1 loaf bread, unsliced
6 large eggs
2 1/4 cups milk
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon rum extract
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
confectioners' sugar

1. Mix eggs, milk, sugar, extract and nutmeg together with mixer.

2. Slice bread in thick slices, thoroughly dip into mixture coating well, spray griddle with butter spray and brown on both sides, sprinkle with confectioner's sugar.
