Herbes de Provence

'Herbes de Provence' is a mix of aromatic dried plants native to Southern region of France, the Provence. The mixture traditionally contains rosemary, marjoram, basil, savory and thyme, sometimes lavender. Thyme dominates the flavor and can be found in breads, meats, seafood, or pates. Here's a simple recipe calling for Herbes de Provence. 1 whole chicken 4 teaspoons Herbes de Provence 1 teaspoon Garlic Salt 1 tablespoon olive oil 4 cups any vegetables, cut in 1-inch pieces 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper Combine 2 teaspoons Herbes de Provence and 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt; rub over chicken. Toss vegetables in a large bowl with oil, Herbes de Provence, garlic salt and black pepper. Arrange vegetables around chicken in a baking pan. Bake at 375 F for 1.5 hours.
